This is a documentary project that started in 2025, when I recorded short interviews with around 100 people across the city. I'm continuing to meet people and record their views in 2026.
People hear about the project and reach out to me to participate. I travel to you to record a short conversation, closer to a podcast than a formal interview.
My name is Perry Walker. I’m a freelance videographer and editor who has worked in documentary for 15 years. I’ve produced / directed two short documentaries and assisted on many others.
I'm interested in the things you observe from wherever you live. What interactions do you have with your immediate surroundings in the city? And whatever issues are occupying your time and attention.
No. Participants are not identified by name, and no exact locations are revealed. I am not asking people about their specific personal background or biography etc.
Short sections from these conversations and images will be edited into one film, with the intention of creating a sort of time capsule for Toronto in 2025/26.
No problem! It could be front steps, a balcony, a walkway - any place outside where you look out from.
The average interaction has been about 20 minutes.
